Roller Skating and Karma: How the 80s Taught Me the Power of Positivity

Nurturing Good Karma Vibes with Rambling Mimi

Picture this: It’s the 1980s, a time when my biggest dilemma was choosing between roller skating in the front room or perfecting the lyrics to Boy George’s “Karma Chameleon.” There I was, in my graffiti-style roller boots, gliding (and sometimes stumbling) around, belting out “Karma, karma, karma, karma, karma chameleon…” with all the passion my little heart could muster. Life was uncomplicated then, wasn’t it? No social media, no endless emails – just good old-fashioned fun and a budding awareness of good karma, thanks to Culture Club.

As I look back, I often wonder, when did we stop cultivating good karma as a natural part of our lives? Or better yet, what got in the way?

What Kind of Karma Are You Creating Through Your Daily Actions?

Every action, big or small, has a ripple effect. According to the law of karma, our thoughts and actions shape our future experiences. It’s like the universe’s way of saying, “What you put out will come back to you in unexpected ways. Give only what you don’t mind getting back.”

Our actions can produce both negative and positive effects, but by working towards creating good karma daily, we can move towards spiritual balance and a happier life.

Cultivating Good Karma

We’re not always aware of the consequences of what we say, do, or think. According to karmic law, every action generates a force of energy that returns to it in like and kind. Often, our emotions, actions, and behaviours are based on past experiences rather than future goals, leading to negative energies.

By adding a few simple actions to your daily life, you can work towards cultivating good karma:

  • Think About Your Motives: Take responsibility for your actions. Ensure they come from a place of love and good intentions when helping yourself and others.
  • Say Thank You: This often goes unsaid, but a simple “thank you” can make a significant positive impact on someone’s life, even if you don’t realise it.
  • Be Honest: With others and yourself. Dishonesty, even white lies, can be emotionally and physically draining.
  • Be Kind: To others and yourself. Focus on your goals but help others along the way. The universe will repay you by matching your energy with positive experiences and people.
  • Learn to Love Yourself: Stop judging yourself! Removing self-limiting beliefs can help you feel lighter and raise your positive vibrations, moving you closer to peace and spiritual awareness.
  • Meditate: Give yourself some headspace. Reflect on life, your journey, and the impact of your actions. Visualise good in the world to expand your positive energy and self-awareness.
  • Listen: Take time to listen to others. It helps them on their journey and can teach you something about yourself.
  • Practice Forgiveness: To others and yourself. It’s challenging but essential, as it’s something we hope others would consider for us.

These actions will become subconscious habits, reflecting positive energy onto others and causing a karmic ripple effect.

Restoring Your Karmic Balance

We’re all human, and the path to enlightenment and releasing ourselves from negative energies is far from easy. We have the power to create both negative and positive energies in life.

The key is to remember that choosing peace over the need to be right can guide us on the path to restoring our karmic balance. You’ll only reap the rewards of your positive actions if your intent is truly unselfish. As they say, “What goes around, comes around!”

So, whether you’re still roller skating in your living room or just humming along to 80s hits, remember: Karma isn’t just a song. It’s a powerful force that can shape our lives in wonderful ways if we let it. Now, go out there and spread some good vibes – your future self will thank you!
